Course Description
Create a unique recipe for developing skills to analyze microelectronic circuits without doing lots of complex mathematics. While some of the textbooks use tedious and complex mathematical derivations to teach concepts, this course offers an alternative approach by focusing on intuitive analysis skills and an analysis-by-inspection method. The objective of this course is to provide working professionals who have no experience in IC design, but are interested in building an in-depth understanding of semiconductor devices and their modeling for advancing career development in IC design subject. Topics covered include: low-frequency BJT and MOS amplifiers, amplifier frequency response, analysis-by-inspection, and SPICE simulation, which provides you hands-on experience incorporating concepts and intuitive analysis skills with the industry-standard tool. Two case studies in the assigned homework are explored, in which you will gain a more comprehensive picture of the amplifier frequency response, as well as discover some inspiring or challenging analog topics.
